Applications are invited online only by ‘One Time Registration’ from qualified candidates for
the under mentioned Post. Applications shall be submitted through the official website of Commission
(www.keralapsc.gov.in) after ONE TIME REGISTRATION. Candidates who have registered can apply
through their profile. Candidates who have AADHAR card should add AADHAR as ID proof in
their Profile.

Note- i:-The ranked list of candidates finalized by the commission in pursuance of this
notification shall cease to be in force after one year from the date of finalization of the
ranked list (as per notification A V(2)2376/14/GW dated 04.04.2016. Extra ordinary
Gazette dated 15.04.2016). Candidates will be advised from the said list against the
existing vacancies and that may be reported to the commission in writing during the
period of currency of the list.
Note- ii:- In the case of difference in original caste/community claimed in the
applications and that entered in SSLC book, the candidate shall produce a gazette
notification in this regard along with Non-creamy layer certificate/caste certificate
issued by competent revenue authority, at the time of verification.
5. Method of appointment : Direct recruitment
Note:- Differently Abled and female candidates are not eligible to apply for this
post.
6. Age Limit : 18-26.
Only candidates born between 02.01.1993 and
01.01.2001 (both dates included) are eligible to apply
for this post.
Other Backward Communities, Scheduled caste
converts and SC/ST candidates are eligible for usual age
relaxation as provided under sub rule (c) of the Rule 10 of
the general rules. Other conditions regarding the age
relaxation are not applicable to this post.
7. Qualifications:
1. Educational Qualifications:
Pass in Plus Two or its equivalent.
Note: ( KS & SSR Rule 10(a)(ii) Part II applicable)
Diploma in Computer Application is Preferential.
2. Physical Qualifications
The Candidates must be physically fit and should possess the following
minimum physical standards as prescribed below
For General Candidates For SC/ST Candidates
(a) Height: 165 cms 160 cms
(b) Weight: 50 Kgs 48 Kgs
(c) Chest: 81 cms 76 cms
(d) Chest Expansion: 5 cms 5 cms
Note: Physical Measurement of the candidates will be taken prior to the test and
those who do not satisfy the prescribed Physical standards will not be allowed to
participate in the Physical Efficiency test under any circumstances.
3. Must have proficiency in swimming
Note:- The proficiency in swimming will be tested by a practical test
conducted by the commission. The following are the criteria for the
swimming test.
(i) 50m swimming trial to be completed within two minutes.
(ii) Two minute floating ability at the deeper sides of the swimming pool.
Candidate must qualify both the events to be considered as qualified in
the swimming test.
4. Visual Standards Must possess the Visual Standards specified below
without glasses.

Note 1:
a) Each eye must have full field of vision.
b) Colour Blindness, Squint or any morbid conditions of the eyes or
lids of either eye shall be a disqualification for appointment.
5. Physical Efficiency Test – A Physical Efficiency test will be conducted by the commission to
assess the physical efficiency of the candidates. Candidates must qualify in at least 5 out of 8 items
in the physical efficiency test showing the minimum standards of efficiency as noted below.

3. Long Jump 457.2 cm
4. Putting the Shot (7264 grams) 609.6 cm
5. Throwing the cricket ball 6096 cm
6. Rope Climbing(only with hands) 365.80 cm
7. Pull Ups or chinning 8 times
8. 1500 Meter Run 5 minutes 44 Seconds
8. Preferential:- Other conditions being equal, the Home Guard Volunteers who have completed a
tenure of three years in that organizations and who have satisfactorily undergone training in Fire
Fighting during the period of tenure shall be treated as having preferential qualification for direct
recruitment to this post.
9. Probation:-Every Person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty after he
completes the training and examination will be on probation for a period of two years on duty
within a continous period of three years.
10. Training:-
i) Training for a period of 6 months in the State Fire Service Training School or in
any other institution as may be fixed, and pass the examination in the subject
prescribed for the course.
ii) After the above training Six months practical training at a Fire station and a
pass in the examination in the subjects prescribed for the course.
Note:
i) A Written and practical test will be conducted during the last fortnight of the
period of training at the close of training. Those who fail to qualify in either one
or both tests shall have their training extended for a further period of one
month, at the end of which they shall be tested again in the subjects in which
they failed. The Director of Fire & Rescue Services shall allow a third chance to
pass the course to all fireman recruits who fail at the re-test.
ii) Seniority among Recruits, who have qualified in the test conducted by Fire and Rescue Services Academy shall be determined on the basis of effective advice of
KPSC and they shall be appointed to service on the basis of seniority list, only
after completion of successful training.
11. Bond:- A Person appointed by direct recruitment to the post of Fireman shall execute a bond ,
binding himself to service in the department for a period of 7 years and to pay to Government an
amount as prescribed by government, in case of failure to serve in the department for the said post.
